HEADS IN THE SAND

What shields us from the cruelty of humanity, the selfishness of desire, only the drapery of our given culture, economic status and technological savvy.  I use the word shield incorrectly as its main purpose is to protect in a deliberate fashion.  In this instance, I mean it to be used as a blinder to stave off all the untasteful sights this world of men has to offer.  Those who choose to be blissful will perish in the first wave.  Men and women of vision and capable of true sight will be the actors of this world and be able to escape the initial ravages of the chaos and anarchy that is to ensue.  Those capable of inserting themselves back into the kingdom of animals will survive, if only in the manner expected by the courses of natural history.  What then will our legacy be, one of man or one of nature?
